Getting started

A guide for online stores

Once your tracking is set up, the next step is sharing the program with prospective partners and making sure they have access to anything that will help them succeed.

Here are a few things to think about.

Finding partners

Promo page on Linkshop

We will create a promotional page for your affiliate program and share this with our publishers. You can send prospective publishers, influencers or partners to this page if they’re interested in partnering with you. They can sign up here for free and grab links.

Promo page on your website

We recommend creating a similar promo page on your website, but in your brand voice. Ideally you will include a footer link directed to this page, and a link from this page to your Linkshop program page. Advocates of your brand may seek your partner program there.

Publisher/partner outreach

Some established affiliates may find your program organically, however it will take time. The best results can come from identifying and reaching out to prospective partners that are a good fit. We encourage you to help us with that where possible using a shared list.

Media placements

Some publishers will create specific content or offer premium placements in exchange for a media fee. This can be a good way to activate publishers who align well with your target market, but are not willing to work on a commission only basis. We can source rates.

Promotional messages

Discount codes

Discount codes are a good hook that help affiliates give their audience a reason to shop now. You may wish to allocate branded discount codes to a few high value partners, for example content publisher or influencers, or supply a generic code for others.

General marketing

If you’re launching a new product or planning a big sale. Give us a heads up and we can share that with affiliates who may wish to promote your offer to their audience. Likewise if there is any rebranding happening, or new promotional material let us know.

Creative assets

Logo and images

Some publishers may require your logo, and/or images when promoting your offer. We will therefore need your latest logo and some high res images relevant to your brand. We’ll add this creative to publisher dashboards if you email it to us at hello@linkshop.co.nz

Display banners (optional)

If you’re using standard IAB advertising formats, then supplying your latest display banners will make it easy for any affiliates that run display ads to promote your offer. Ideally your display banner creative should include a call to action. Popular IAB formats include:

Medium rectangle 300 x 250 pixels (width x height)

Half page 300 x 600 pixels (width x height)

Leaderboard 728 x 90 pixels (width x height)

Wide skyscraper 160 x 600 pixels (width by height)

Skyscraper 120 x 600 pixels (width by height)
